It seems to me that there is a little confusion between the FALL of Babylon the Great and its destruction. As far as I know the WTS still teaches that Babylon the Great fell in1919 and there has been no new light on that. If there has please cite it as I am keen to know. Babylon the Great's destruction at Armageddon is another matter and while I can see a shift in their emphasis Babylon the Great is still going to be destroyed during the Great Tribulation that sets off Armageddon along with the UN and everything else. So apart from his "one thought" bit where is the new light in all this?

BABYLON THE GREAT IS NOT FALLING ANYMORE? (NEW LIGHT FROM THE ANNUAL MEETING)
by raymond frantz inhttps://youtu.be/rsbfa_7lqv4?si=muuxmgtll1n1ifad.
the watchtower’s babylon the great: a shrinking reality?.
so this latest annual meeting introduced a new idea about babylon the great, and here is the part from geoffrey jackson's talk we real need to dig in and consider it's ramifications..... so you’ve got to hand it to them; they know how to keep things interesting with their ever-evolving interpretations and, of course, those classic "adjustments" in understanding.

Does maths prove the bible is wrong?
by joey jojo inthere might be a few that find this post boring, because, you know - its maths.. i like maths but im not a mathematician or condsider myself any type of expert on the subject.. there is a branch of maths called propositional logic that is used widely in computers and computer programming that allows computers to make decisions based on certain conditions.
for example: if a condition exists, then do something.
like: if the a button is pressed, then the letter a will appear on the screen.

Who says it’s impossible for God to lie? Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matt 19:26).
God also told Abraham, “I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Look up at the heavens and count the stars - if indeed you can count them. So shall your offspring be,” (Gen 13:16 and Gen 15:5). Not only did that not happen (so he lied), it is not even possible. The earth could not support thousands of trillions of people, in fact you couldn’t even fit that number of people on the planet, not even if you packed them together like sardines. -

When I was a Witness back in the 1970s Babylon the Great had already fallen. It fell in 1919. Can anyone cite references to when that changed to being a future event?

Would you be able to survive a three day Assembly?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe last assembly i attended was over 10 years ago.
the monotone speakers, boring talks, uncomfortable seats, long prayers and nodding off after the lunch break did me in.
i survived the morning sessions, but the afternoon sessions were brutal.

The last one I attended was Twickenham 1980 and I can't remember anything about it, not even how many days it was. I also don't remember encountering any 12-13 minute closing prayers, butI I was once told that assemblies were a big money spinner for the organization, revenues from food, donations, books etc made them very profitable. Obviously not so anymore as even "International Conventions" are now only three days instead of anything from five to eight back in the day. What has made them so unprofitable now?.

The Hubris of the Governing Body
by cofty init's difficult to comprehend how arrogant the members of the governing body must be to sanction much of the content that appears in their literature.
they identify themselves as the 'faithful and discreet slave' - that alone requires an astonishing degree of pride.
but what is even more amazing - arguably to the level of insanity - is the way they then use that phrase to elevate themselves above the rest of the organisation.

Punk, you've got a typo for your first citation, it should be the KM Sept 2007 p.3.

There must be thousands of examples one could use this method on - here are just a few more;
The point is that Christians have implicit trust in their heavenly Father; they do not question what he tells them through his written Word and organization. (WT 1974 Jul 15 p.441)

The Governing Body publishes spiritually encouraging literature in many languages. This spiritual food is based on God’s Word. Thus, what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah. (WT 2010 Sept 15 p.13)

Well, a person who lacks confidence that the end is near might start to make alternate arrangements, so to speak, in case things do not work out as Jehovah said they would. (WT 2012 Sept 15 p.22)

Weight Loss and Insulin Control
by cofty inask most fitness coaches, nutritionists or health professionals and they will tell you that weight control is about calories in versus calories out (cico).
after all, you can’t ignore the laws of thermodynamics!.
the flaw in this simplistic reasoning ought to be obvious; a human body and a steam engine are two different things.. our bodies have evolved complex systems of control and feedback loops in order to maintain a steady interior environment, also known as homeostasis.

One of the reasons the whole truth about diets and obesity is so hard to find is because the dieting industry is worth billions, and the last thing the latest fad diet gurus want is for weight control to be made simple. I recommend this guy, even if some of it differs from Cofty's analysis.

Would You Like To Be God?
by Ultimate Axiom inwe know there are a few on this forum who think they are, but consider this for a while.
if you are god, you are omniscient, therefore you have nothing to learn.
nothing to research, investigate or explore as there is nothing you don’t already know.

That sounds like the worst possible fate.
Perhaps, but it was God’s fate for an infinite number of years. And don’t forget he was all on his own while knowing everything for that infinite number of years – no lady, no pizzas, no coffee, no ice cream, not a single atom, just himself and his thoughts. For infinity! And if he was content with that life, why start creating anything? Especially as PP has pointed out, he’s not very good at it. Half is angels have become demons, and his human creation is driven by greed and selfishness, and produces no end of sadistic deviants. I find it very hard to take seriously the idea of a god with no beginning or end when you think about what than actually means.

I haven't found it again but it was fascinating to read at the time.
TonusOH, Is this the thread you are referring to?
It was this thread that brought me here, although I haven't seen anything quite like it since. It would be invaluable if a similar thread could be produced about life in Warwick.
